Midnight

Midnight

A Poem by Hidden_identity

11:50

He should be here soon

It's almost time

11:51

Tick away

My life is ticking away

11:52

Why me?

Why does he have to come for me?

11:53

Nearer and nearer

There's no way to stop him

11:54

I pray to God

"Please save me"

11:55

Five more minutes till midnight

Five more minutes till he comes

11:56

I kiss my sister on her forehead as she sleeps

Knowing I'll never see her again

11:57

I write a note

saying good-bye to those I love

11:58

There are no tears left

I have shed them all

11:59

It is almost time

I sit on the stool, my chin held high, no one will force me to go

12:00

It's midnight

He comes through the window like it's nothing

"It's time," he says

I rise from my stool and follow him

"Good-bye," I say to the world I knew
