I Gambled My Life

I made a deal with the Devil
one night
I bet my soul

I would love to laugh
in his face
I would love to win

I was confident
I could beat him
I could win any competition

He picked the challenge
one he was sure I'd lose
Music was the test

I played the little I knew
on the guitar
I wasn't too confident now

He had a sinister smile
painted on his face
He knew what he was doing

He grabbed his axe
and tuned it up
He placed the strap around his neck

He strummed the strings
letting a monsterous tune
spill out

He played a skin-crawling song
for three minutes
Never letting his smile fade

He allowed his last notes
to linger in the air
rest his arms

The guitar went up
in smoke
Disappearing into the air

He stepped in front of me
and held out his hand
palm up

Pain shot through
my body
My soul splitting from my being

I could feel it
pulsing inside me
bursting out of my throat

He grabbed the floating
glowing soul
and placed it in his bag

He tured on the spot
heading west
His new-found prize dangling by his side

He snapped his fingers
sharply
A numb body exploded in flames

Whoa! this painted quite a vivid scene in my head. Powerful and straight up emotional. I must say this is the write I have read here so far. I really got into this one.
