Masked

Masked

A Poem by Hidden_identity

I was hidden

Not even my own reflection

showed who I really was

I lived behind a mask

Blending in with everybody else

Unknown to even myself

Scared of criticism from others

I remained hidden

That is, until you came along

I found you

Or more like you found me

You were my light in a dark tunnel

You accepted me for who I was

My mistakes and accomplishments

I didn't need to hide anymore

You unmasked the real me

Nice.
short, sweet and to the point.

the golden stanza of this poem is that first one.. "Not even my own reflection showed who I really was". Great line, truly.
Did feel the storyline was too much of a cliche though. really wished you personalized it more or gave different sort of details to help.
otherwise, a great write

i can really identify with your use of the mask as an means of protection and comfort from a seemingly harsh world. acceptance can never be underestimated--it seems to disrobe even the heaviest of masks. beautiful write

I loved this, lots of people live masked until someone accepts them. This was so relatable, excellent job. Keep up the good work.
