She Stares

She Stares

A Poem by HighBrowCulture
"

White Wash Your Fears.

"

I want a place where I can feel the earth move under my feet

A sanctuary where the sky curves forever and the stars drip

Where there are no words and no room for feeling

And the rain falls like peeled glass-

Maybe I can stretch out my face and drown my eyes

Shivering from its damp fingers because I could die

Cold because I wear skin like a ghost wears weather

Or warm because I close myself and everything disappears-

this verse is exquisite, excruciating, frightening and overwhelming. "a sanctuary where the sky curves forever and the stars dip" - exquisite. the wish for "no words and no room for feeling" - excruciating. "shivering from its damp fingers because I could die" - frightening. "I close myself and everything disappears" - overwhelming.
it must be the darkest, the most intense and the most stifling pain that can be the genesis of this wish for escape and respite.
it reminded me of pink floyd's chapter 24 - and the six shades of darkness. "the seven is the number of the young light, it forms when darkness is increased by one". this is the sixth shade.
