Roses are red violets are blue

I am sorry my dog always barks at you

Even when you’re not a threat

Her instincts prod her to protect

If you have a dog like mine

I’m sure you can relate

Our carpets have turned brown

And smell faintly of pee

There is food all over the floor

And in case you are wondering

Yes it is worse than stepping on a lego

As if that wasn’t enough

She likes her rump a bit too much

Be warned if she comes to snuggle

She really just wants to show it off

It will be pushed into your face

So just bear with her because

Even though she has some struggles

She is my closest friend

Whenever I cry she licks

My salty tears away

She always greets me

When I come home

Because she knows it’s hard

Being a human who so desperately

Wants to be a dog

LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! This is a deliciously true & fun poem about my favorite subject: DOGS! I write a lot of dog poems, too! *wink! wink!* What makes this so awesome is the way you are conveying disgusting aspects of doghood yet still making it sound like the most adorable thing on earth (which is exactly how I feel about my dogs). I am so much more tolerant of their butt-licking & bad breath, than I am of humans with same problems! *tee! hee!* This is a great poem that puts a smile on the face!
