A Nursery Crime...Georgie Porgie

A Nursery Crime...Georgie Porgie

A Poem by Gee

Olde English nursery rhyme updated

"
Georgie Porgie pudding and pie
kissed the girls and made them cry,
the police were called, statements sought,
a danger deemed, he must be caught.

Within the hour he was found
roughly cuffed, punched to the ground,
put in a car, thrown in a cell,
denied a brief so he couldn't tell.

Confused and with a low IQ
Georgie knew what he would do,
and when they opened up his door
he lay there dead upon the floor.

Now the police themselves 'midst public fury,
will face a trial and a twelve man jury.

Poor old Georgie Porgie Puddin and Pie, what a way for him to die. A nursery rhyme, that nowadays leaves a bit of a sour taste. People with low IQ and mental health problems deserve a bit more understanding, although of course the public need protection too. It's a question of good old common sense not a case of wielding a sledge hammer to crack a peanut. Well written Gee.

Thank you Christine
Poor old Georgie Porgie he didn't really mean to make the cry
All he wanted was a kiss and a feel
They made it sound he had a meal

Extremely well constructed and a good laugh combined. I love this sort of writing, can't say as a youngster that I admired Georgie Porgie, all though I was a fan of Pudding. Good work thanks for sharing. Rod.

What a great way to start a wet Saturdaym smiling, thinking, mooting - but, NOT daring to read other reviews! In spite of you meaning it to be funny-ha-ha, its has a cynical ring to it, a touch of truth, a touch of let's turn red riding hood into a a lady of the woods type! Thanks for the happy stance.. Happy weekend to you and your ladies.

A very tragic turn of events. Which, unfortunately, given the signs of times... I don't know.

At least he wasn't accused of being a violent rapist...?

A lot of arguments and debates; going on about hot-button subjects like this.

Thank you 😊 I found it moving, provocative and maybe, triggering for some.

I also like that you kept true to the rhythm of this beloved nursery rhyme.

Nicely done.
