'Tis our fate.......

'Tis our fate.......

A Poem by Gee
"

And then we are no more, dead and buried

"
Then nothing but memories
grief shadows the heart,
flower covered the box
on the old horse drawn cart.

Dark suited the bearers
heads bowed,stepping slow,
resting the passed loved one
before the grieving front row.

Heart wrenching the readings
echoing off the cold stone,
of the old village church
for this love they've all known.

Whose life play now over
the final curtain slow drawn,
here the end of an era
whilst elsewhere new born.

Hmmm, who knows. Thanks
Superbly done Gee. We go the way we came and life goes on, eternally. Even reading this, I pictured the people, the church and the graveyard as muted and still, as if even Mother nature stops the breeze to pay her respects.

Cheers Nemo, always appreciate your words
Of life and death... we are are all in it together! None of us know how long our lives will be, but we do know that we must die one day. Sad but true. Poetically described, even though the subject is of necessity a sad one.

Yep, might step out the door and get hit by a bus. Thank you Robert
This is so much better than 'okay'! It is indeed our fate. :/

No problem, this truly left me fascinated. :)
Hey Gee, there is no such thing as simple rhyming verse. 'Tis our fate' proves this universal truth. Write on my fine literary friend. Oh' & regards to Milton Keynes..........................N

Another fine write, Gee.

Eloquently written as always. It is one of life's little mysteries. When we lose a loved one it always seems to be the case that someone else we know celebrates a birth around the same time. Another arrives as one departs.

Very nicely done forr a quicky written piece. Nice work.

Cheers Greg.....
Excellent, and I agree with Jacob in that this reminds me of the work of Emily D.....one who I often fashion my writes after as well. I particularly like her words: "Because I could not stop for death, He kindly stopped for me; The carriage held but just ourselves and immortality."
Ah yes, death comes to everyone of us. You have expressed the finality of it, as well as the fact that life goes on; "whilst elsewhere new is born" - I like that!

Thank you for your kind words.I will have to have a read of Emily D,and probably others too.
a couple grammaticals...but reminds me a bit of something emily D. would write...she loved writing about death and funerals...creating the atmosphere so well, and i think you do that here. "the readings that echo off the cold stone"

We go the way we came, just recycled matter, waiting to be something else. Perfectly captured here Gee, we are all the same in the end.
