Born to bloom then die

Born to bloom then die

A Poem by Gee
"

A seasons end, another's start , an old fellas view on both

"
One final cut, then mower stowed
the gardens borders tilled,
winter blooms placed neat in rows
'neath air now damp and stilled.

On terracotta throne the rose
a queen without her crown,
sits forlorn, stark, 'gainst watered light
all petals withered, brown.

A brazier, smoke skyward sent
as summers last burns slow,
beneath the boughs of leaf stripped trees
readied now for coming snow.

The garden bleak all colour shorn
the gardener gave a sigh,
" nature, man, have briefest lives
both born to bloom, then die "

What a WONDERFUL poem Tis meter fine, the visual so freely worded, reality phrased yet - not in an ugly manner. i truly warm to this start to finish and back again!

Your writing is far, far more than 'okay'.

Very kind comments. Thank you Emmajoy
But while they are alive, they bring so much beauty and pleasure to all of us. What a lovely write this is. The seasons do change, but the flowers will bloom again and there is a certain comfort in that. Wonderful rhyming. Lydi**

Thank you JT, hope you're well. Take care
Lots of people are writing about the change of seasons this time of year, but your message here is one of the most original I've seen lately. I like the way you address the natural changes, such as the garden, along with the human changes, such as no more BBQ. Most writers address the first, but not the second. I can feel a sense of melancholy between the lines which matches my own feelings as winter approaches.

Thank you for reading
The seasons of life lend them themselves perfectly to the metaphors of gardens, don't they? I pictured the garden in my mind as I read this, beautifully written.

Thank you..
Life is ephemeral, like the seasons...but there is rebirth...and in winter we live for that...

until our final autumn..when we know...the roses should be pressed because new ones will never bloom again.

beautiful allegory here.

Gorgeous lines throughout, and my heart nearly broke with your closing. I could read poetry like this all winter long, and still feel warm inside!
