On A Balmy Summers Night

On A Balmy Summers Night

A Poem by Gee
"

Just simple words

"
Shooting stars through diamond studs
the pallid moon looked on,
a breeze stirred sleeping summer leaves
but briefly, then was gone.

A fox bark echoed, trailed away
through spinny and beyond,
nothing stirred, the lillies slept
atop the night stilled pond.

'cross barleyed acres all at peace
through farmyard ever on,
silence played on balmy night
a symphony an' song.

'Til sunrise lit the eastern sky,
then man stirred, woke again,
serenaded soft to 'nother day
by bird calls sweet refrain.

How beautiful this life we live
what wonders to behold,
more beauty found in nature's gifts
than platinum and gold

Your simple words were a delight to my Soul. I think the fourth stanza was, indeed, necessary. We do, sometimes, have to mention the things that are not quite so natural. Once, when I asked my doctor if the medicine he was giving me was 'natural,' he rather crossly replied, 'all the elements are natural'!!!

Thank you, glad you enjoyed
I just love this lyrical poem! Sounds like it could be a ballad or ode to a summer in the countryside. "Cross barleyed acres all at peace through farmyard ever on"- beautiful imagery! I would love to see that landscape someday. Beautiful flow and rhyme. Perfect.

Thank you..
You say 'simple words' - maybe they are, but oh my, they're full of the truest and deepest observations. Beautifully described, a gentle sigh and more to you, my friend:. I want to read this on and on.

Thank you kindly Emma
The imagery is awesome, and the analogy between the silence of the night and symphony of song is brilliant. Beautiful ink, my friend! Love this!

It's wonderful. :D
Very nice. I easily imagined myself in this place enjoying the balmy summer night.

I liked the contrast of the silence of the night and the symphony of song.

wow....if this was just a quick write, I'd like to read what you produce when you sit down for a while longer....:)

minor nag - the fox maybe need not be capitalized?

Great poetry!

I'm ok with simple anything more I leave to the clever folk. Thank you
This is a song surely rather than as poem. And I mean that as the greatest compliment. It is full of music.

A beautifully painted picture Gee, of calm and wonder taking over from the usual chaos we live amongst, seeping through each pore, alleviating all that ails you and making us remember that there is beauty everywhere, if we only take the time to see it.
Superb.
