The Unpalatable Andy Warhol

The Unpalatable Andy Warhol

A Poem by Gee
"

Funny what irritates eh ???

"
It wasn't the poor service
or warm wine served in lipstick stained glasses,
that was annoying but acceptable, kinda.
Nor was it the overly al dente veg
served in chipped dishes,
that I get at home, am used to, although not fond of.
The couple to my left that bickered constantly,
voices rising with each glass added to their bill
were irksome, tiring even,
but they were paying for the privilege, so...
No, It was none of these.
It was actually the Andy Wahol esque artwork
directly over my wife's right shoulder,
the colours clashing badly with her over priced,
multi coloured chiffon blouse,
although the picture itself not the cause of my growing annoyance.
No, it was the fact that this artwork was hung,
fixed, out of level.
Why ?
Surely to God if I could see this the staff could,
yet there it was,
slightly askew and ruining my meal.

love the reference to andy warhol...and when our world is just out of kilter...hard to enjoy anything---
some of us are just built that way.

Indeed, I spend my working days looking at levels and detail, very anal at times. Thank you Jacob
Oooh a wee bit OCD there mate ! lol
I wondered where this was going - its a quintessential Englishman's complaint that one.
Love the humour - class!

Aye, anything out of level bugs me, must be the job.
Cheers Tony
Maybe we should form a cult Gee since there are so many of us out here... What a great take on an often serious & debilitating condition, fantastically described with just the right amount of humour. Smashing, Neville

hi, i tend to agree with Avia, this is indeed an amusing write...enjoyed the vivid descriptions, slightly sardonic, yet whimsical tone...quite engaging piece

i can relate, having ocd...myself would be more irked {offended} regarding being served wine in lipstick stained glasses, {eep} i wouldn’t be as irked by the off center/etc Warhol painting...end up fixing it myself lol 😂

a most enjoyable read! great rhyming scheme, as well. i hope you left them a lousy tip!

Lol, not a bean. Thanks
I found this amusing. Very nicely described. It's funny, what makes us get upset may be something that's seemingly so insignificant. I really like this.

Thank you..
This made me smile so early in the morning. A well told tale with an unexpected and humorous 'punch line' set in verse. Obsession can be an overwhelming condition. I guess we all have a touch of it and many of us, me included, get slightly uncomfortable seeing a picture or mirror obviously askew! So did you get a refund lol?
