He will be...

He will be...

A Poem by Gee
"

Memories

"
He will be forever summer,
a warm, floral scented breeze,
blue skies and single clouds,
clouds that drift slowly, silently, to a place unknown,
perhaps to where he now rests, peacefully,
with those that went before...

He will be an aching heart and tears,
a pain that only time can heal,
a chasm to be filled with memories,
memories of childhood days,
of sibling love, laughter,
of all that is good in life,
in mankind.

He will be stories and smiles,
a warm glow,
dreams,
loved,
loved,
loved...

and forever missed.

Thank you Ken. Hope the new year grants you both good health and happiness.
Cheers :))
This is beautiful and heartbreaking.

The beginning line is charming. It may be my favorite line in the poem, though each line is well crafted.

The entire first stanza is visually pleasing and emotionally gripping. That emotion leads well into the next stanza where the reader is brought deeper. The third stanza and the ending line finish the poem gently.

The poem has really brought me as the reader in to feel what can only be a hint of the pain the writer must feel. As Thomas Hardy said “Poetry is emotion put into measure”. I was grasped by the emotion written here.

This is a blessing to read.

Of course!
An excellent tribute to an excellent woman, Gee.
em's gone from the Cafe and I miss her already.
She actually made me get back into poetry a couple of weeks ago.
I had her proof this poem i wrote, and in her mannerly way, she basically told me it sucked. Then I realized she was right. My mind had just gone lazy. Her words shocked me back into poetry mode for good I think, as I've been cranking out the jams since.
Whether she comes back or not, i will always appreciate her honesty, grace, and style.

Cheers emmajoy.

I hope I'm not out of line saying I love you and I miss you, em.

sincerely, wes.

Thank you Wesley.
Fingers crossed she'll be back...
Oh this is great - what a great thing to carve onto a tombstone to be remembered forever. Such a lightness of feeling for this fellow who has moved on to another transient state XXX

A heart wrenching read and it is beautifully written. The poem hits hard because just lost one of my closest friends. Thanks for posting and enjoy the holiday season.

So sorry to read of your loss.
Thank you
Gorgeous! My favourite poem on this website so far. Although curiously, I feel like I have read it before. Perhaps it is because the concept is so universal... do you currently live in the U.K.? Or is it possible I may have actually heard this poem in North America IRL? Regardless, I love it. Nature imagery is always beautiful especially when coupled with discussions of death. Thank you for sharing. :)
