Creativity killed the cat

Creativity killed the cat

A Poem by Niall Madden

Where does a writer draw his inspiration from?

does it just appear within the ink, laced onto a quill

then planted in the parchment, so the meaning sinks in.

Is this just an old style way of thinking about things.

Modern writers have it drilled in "listen to the heart"

I dare say statement is dragged out metaphoric farce.

Modern writers have to draw from within, jam the pen into their vital vein, capture creative heroin.

Then with the mighty pen inject upon the page.

the murky darkened ink that uses not ink, but bloodied pain,

Write from a sadder place and in time you shall find,

every time you splatter words across a page, you place in it

your own mind.

The brain is such a fragile thing it needs fuel to survive

but when you need another verse, desperation shall arrive.

to drain the tank within your head, minimal left too survive.

All this time never knowing the brain is shutting down,

the last creative dose drawn and distributed, your body left to rot while your work shall surely shine.

Well if you go along this path without knowing what's at stake.

Without a second thought of what happens when you empty the gory mine.

If I can write about this, what the hell will happen to mine!

Really great poem Niall! It seems the more despirate and unhappy we are the better our writing becomes. I guess thats when our deep feelings truly emerge from our heart and soul. i really enjoyed your poem.

anytime Niall. Keep on writing
This is great, such creative analogies.

I only mention this because it seems like you were trying to only capitalize the beginning of a new "sentence" or thought, the following are possibly accidentally capitalized:
1st stanza: "Then"
3nd: "Your"
