Fear of the Lord

Fear of the Lord

A Poem by R. J. North
"

Just trying to figure out what it means to fear the Lord.

"
Fear of the lord the most righteous and true
He covers me and he made me new
Fear of the lord the most holy and high
Down on my knees at your feet
Abba father cry
Fear of the lord for mighty is he
You numbered the stars
I marvel at your glory
Fear of the lord father you know my heart
Dwell on your word from my lips
Shall it never part

God I trust in you and your never ending grace
Your compassion and your loving kindness
Father they are of old
But you made me new
I am ever in debt to you

Praise your name
Father you are my God
Trust in you
Lord you are my refuge
Praise your name
Father teach me your ways
Thine and thine alone
My debt you paid
Make me like you
In all that I do
Guide my deeds
May I be of good repute

I Praise You in the morning
I praise You in the evening
I praise You all day long
You know my heart
You know my song
You know where I’ve gone
And I will sing of your strength
And I will sing of your love
My name is written on hands of God above

Fear of the Lord
Sinful and weak are we
Father you took my place
and your blood
Covers me

Fear of the lord for all that you are
Father dwell in my heart
Take my hand
From me shall you never part

Your poetical tribute of faith and reverence is very humbling to read and reflects your convections.

The reverential fear of the Lord is designed to help us grow to become more like God - to grow in love. And this growth removes any need to be terrified of God’s judgment. As the apostle John put it:

“Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the Day of Judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love” (1 John 4:17-18).

Great write … :-)
