The Two of Them

The Two of Them

A Poem by Hoshi Nami

So what if I’m in love with you?

But it’s not the same

As callused hands

And long walks

While hypothesizing about our future

No words were said but the dream was shared

And now I’m scared because this time I think it’s me that will be hurt

And being hurt hurts

And I don’t want to lose control

And I think you could be the one that breaks me

Back to where I was

I can’t go back

I’ve cut the strings that my saviors used to test me and sent fire down the hole

It destroyed everything

Sometimes I miss who I was when we were together

In the beginning we were so innocent

No one has ever known and loved me so fully

But you were too weak to keep me strong

I’d rather do it myself

But now I’ve lost it and given it to you

Recycled

Hardly genuine

But real enough that the pain will be real for me

I’m in love with you, so what?
