The glowing light.

A Poem by Relic

Image result for shadow on the chair

The yellow sunlight ~ bright and warm,
Crawled one morning on my bedroom floor.
Was sluggish as a sleeper stretching his form,
Creep~creep~creeping to the bedroom door.

Then, with the knowledge, it could not stay,
From the glowing chair, it seemed to say ~
'Life is a light that flickers away,
Doused by demise through speed or decay.'

Soon, the light faded under the door,
replaced by a darkness ~ yet all the more,
The yellow sunlight, as though by lure,
Departed somewhere ~ but to where ~ I'm not sure...

~Pausing to ponder the sadness of such a short existence for the day, the sun slipped into the unknown of the darkness. Just as we too will depart one day to somewhere, after our light on this earth has finally faded.~

I have thought it over a hundred times. I have come to the conclusion that if life is short and death is finite then there has to be some reason for dying. Maybe there is an afterlife, maybe we are reborn, etc...the point is that perhaps this life is not our only one. Stars are born and they die, but they never truly disappear. We are all made of this star stuff and we play a part in shaping other stars as well. With a universe so infinite, literally everything is possible. I believe that life is infinite.

Often, aware people will caught the experience whenever and wherever they are, and will live the moment fully, grasping what is surrounding it, like here, when a simple scene from our wondrous world haunt You in Your solitude to takes You in life journey, to the real meaning of existence, just as You existed in that moment, completely aware, who can ponder and take the lesson of this moment into their other moments, like Your last verse did, are the real winners.

the flow was sweetly simple, yet steady, just perfect for Your theme.

I forgot I did this one haha Thanks marilyn. :)
Fantastic flow to this poem. The comparison was very well done. Life and death are such mysterious topics, and all we can really do is wonder.

Thank you. :)
The world is so mysterious and there are so many unanswered questions to ponder about. Life and death is certainly something to think about. Is death a sweet escape and release from the cruelty of life? Or is it just a descend to an even more cruel place? So much that we might never know. You did a fantastic job capturing thoughts like these. Really enjoyed it.

I guess it all depend on a persons background or point of view. We'll never know. Thank you.
It is sometimes scary for me to think I have lived over half of my life already. Of course, I believe in Heaven, and I am God's child. It gives me comfort to believe in where I am going once my light is extinguished here on earth. A book I read recently, gives a great perspective on the afterlife, "To Heaven and Back." A great read for anyone who wants to know about the afterlife. Your analogies in your poetry are awesome. Another incredibly written piece. FYI: I am not trying to change anyone's beliefs to mine.

I'm glad you liked Raven thanks. :)x
This is brilliant Relic. In my mind, I saw the shadows elongating as the day done its thing, and the viewer viewed...and pondered. Everything must come to pass before our own day fades, so hopefully we still have a lot to fill our time with.

You're welcome.
That is the funny thing about sunlight. It does just seem to appear. glow and then fade away! Also love the photo of the chair... just made me want to sit on it! Loved the shadow too .. very atmospheric. Lovely!

Gee
I'm at the stage of my life when I ponder the amount of time I have left and just how quickly my life lived so far has raced past.
Enjoyed this as so many others have, and rightly so.

Time does go by faster the older you get. I hate that but we have no choice. Thanks so much Gee.
