Abandoned Writers Cafe

Abandoned Writers Cafe

A Poem by Relic

Empty rooms in empty halls.

Accounts silent - long abandoned
the words bankrupt
vacant fronts of creativity
washed over; hollow; run down.

Verbs sway on rusted hinges
the strains of old poems
cross pages like tumbleweeds.

Profiles shuttered - desolate
unopened for years, collect dust
while messages to forgotten friends
go unanswered

I still visit the profiles of old friends here, some that I know seldom if ever, revisit the site. Others are departed from life itself. I revisit their comments on my posts on other sites as well. I'll find one and say, well, wasn't that nice? This is eloquently poignant. I enjoyed and I relate. F.

As do I. They are like monoliths on a partways barren land.

Ohhh much like for this one. Comparing the abandoned account as you would describe an abandoned building. Much description and detail put in this! Trés bien!

It must be the curiosity of all that went on in them before. The people, the events. What once was.

Haha, abandoned buildings also fascinate me, I love the very meaning they symbolize. They're eerie, .. read more
Clint Eastwood would be proud of this imagery. :):) I can taste the popcorn, your images are so clear.

Nice one. I like it. So true. And a few are, alas, no longer with us.

We move on don't we. Often for no good reason. I have poetry that has gathered dust for over thirty years.

This is great writing.

Thanks very much, Angel. I hope not either. :)
Hmm, we may hope writerscafe does not come to this. Fortunately I've only experienced one website like WritersCafe close down, and it's people were forced to abandon with it rather than it being a choice... so I cannot say I can relate. I've often found friends on my account leave "to publish in the real world" but I just shake my head because to me there is no real-er world than this place. Where we can share as ourselves under our names or faces or none at all. It's a choice to be here and share ourselves with people we've never met before. So even if people begin to leave and abandon this cafe, I'll keep coming until I'm ultimately forced to leave.

Amazing write. Keep writing my fellow poet.
Sincerely,
- Lavi

P.S. Just realized I've read this before. Wow, four months? Here's an update on my thoughts I guess ('o_0)

I appreciate your thoughts, Lavi, thank you.
Writers come and writers go, who can see what writers know. We are fortunate to see so many good writers in the Café and to be able to share our thinking and hopefully to shape a neophyte or two along the way.

P.S. great picture.

A good write Relic, nice to see you back.

"Verbs sway on rusted hinges." I can just see them; really well done. I like the whole poem but that line is my favorite.

You're quite welcome!
There's a lot of that in here. Certain people I personally really miss. But we have lives apart from here. Sometimes we go and come back.
