Abandoned Writers Cafe

Abandoned Writers Cafe

Empty rooms in empty halls.

Accounts silent, long abandoned
the words bankrupt
vacant fronts of creativity
washed over; hallow; run down.

Verbs sway on rusted hinges
the strains of old poems
cross pages like tumbleweeds.

Profiles shuttered, desolate
unopened for years, collect dust
while messages to forgotten friends
go unanswered

You have a way with wording how it feels to abandon an account ~ I'm ashamed to say I've done that. But the imagery here is so solid, and almost haunting in a way. The desolate emptiness of an account that will never answer again. Thanks for the beautiful read ^^

I cannot say I enjoyed this because it is not that kind of poem. What I can say is that I got a lot from it. Feelings, memories, losses, friends now gone. People I knew and respected, no longer here. The atmosphere in this lost cafe is absolute and palpable.

I couldn't agree more, Ken. Thanks for your thoughts.
This could be such a great forum, and truthfully it is...for archiving our work. You’ve captured the abandonment here so excellently. I felt like I’d come to one of those old fill-up stations in the desert southwest that once had its heyday, so to speak.

That's a good analogy. Thanks for the read.
Haa!!
This is a thing I get annoyed of here....someone's writing I tried to review but found closed account....bitter truth, I lost one of my friend who went from here without knowing me of that!!
Wonder read!😊

Thank you,Relic.
Your words so artfully describe the absence of well loved writers who seem to disappear and how surprisingly empty it feels when they are not heard from for months on end. Very beautifully written and the image that you have with it is perfect.

"Abandoned Writers Cafe"
Relic,
This speaks to those whom are 'gone' in some way. I know of at least two writers which do not submit any more. I miss them! A person cannot help but wonder what has happened. Your poem speaks to the possibility that sometimes things change and will stay that way. I can't help but hope that the people not seen will return.
Blessings,
Kathy

Thanks for your thoughts, Kathy.
As I make my way through this poem, I can’t help but feel that this was how I perceived my account/profile would succumb to after the semester ended. I was required to join a writing group for an assignment, little did I know I would emerse myself completely into the world of WritersCafe. It’s the little glimmer that remains of my love of writing after painfully saying goodbye to my Comp classes. I related to this on an internal level, and that’s one thing I love about reading others’ work; if you let it, you can find yourself or something within yourself by reading the words of others who share the same love of expressing ourselves through words on paper.

Well said, Kelli. Thanks for taking the time to review. :)
this was wonderful how you put it..a thing i always wondered why, where are everyone gone...
is it really life and its worries ..
i dont know i dont think so..lots said before leaving its not the old cafe as it used to be for real
literature almost for professionals..the cafe used to weigh a lot,it was one of the best sites..
people used to come and write for real not just any words thats repeated in thousands of works
just to say that someone is a writer..i wish i was wrong..i think

you are so welcome my friend
This is beautiful, the words pull you in, I have to agree with the haunting feeling the other person wrote., I'm also very visual with poetry and love the photo you selected to go with it.
