I will plant daffodils here if you want.

I will plant daffodils here if you want.

I'll plant these daffodils here by your grave.
And when they've grown
and blossomed with life;
when sunlight from a penny-colored sun
feeds them,
I'll see them exist,
cheerful in yellow smiles and stiff collars.

But I'll feel no delight
nor contentment.
Nor will I happily float away as fulfilled
as a hummingbird or bee.

I'll plod away instead,
never expecting messages from the dead,
while holding a perpetual resentment at God
for keeping resurrection to himself.

Thank you for reading the poem. I appreciate it.
Oww ... but yeah, you make a good point. Christ got resurrected and ... no-one else ? It's a priority party. Clearly a case of the Star-Bellied Sneeches !

Sure sounds like it. But - who knows ? Christ got reincarnated. Maybe I'll have the good fortune to be reincarnated as a raincloud - and to relieve myself upon whomever I choose. :)

Thank you Purple Witch. :)
"I'll trudge away instead,
never expecting messages from the dead.
And a perpetual resentment at God

for keeping resurrection to himself."

These last four lines are my favorite, completely relatable. You have an excellent way of drawing the raw emotion from your lines. I enjoyed this immensely!

Thank you so much, Meaghan. :)
"What a day of rejoicing that will be"
Promises told, made to believe
Someone said we shall meet again..
How long can one wait for sweet by and by..?

This touches deep ... causes a soul to pause..

One of your best...

You are welcome...........................:)...........
This is incredibly poignant. I read the first stanza, and believed I would be reading a lovely poem about nature's beauty. I was feeling your pain in the final stanza. So beautiful.
