The Magpie

The Magpie

A Poem by James Jones
"

A story about the woman I love.

"
She sees me
I can't help but stare
The magpie sees me
Shimmering shiners beware
She flutters and bounces through the air
Shimmering shiners beware

My chest feels strange
The magpie is getting closer
My heart feels strange
Beware to the glimmering clover
She steals it gracefully,
I tell you over and over
Beware to the glimmering clover

She has it now
The magpie stays with me
The magpie has my heart now
It did a shine and a shimmy
The magpie has my heart forever
It did a shining shimmer
