Accidental Astromancy

Accidental Astromancy

A Poem by ?:

Your eyes lit like ceramic,
Cracked by varicose veins
Accidental astromancy
You're an arcade of the arcane
The universe fits inside a conch shell
Your hair in spirals like Fibonacci
We revel in talk of revolution
You showed me the pilot's license in place of your ID

When the nukes rain down we'll escape to the moon
And if not, I swear we'll blow that up too
Blot out the rest of the solar system while we're at it
Find a new star to inhumanely inhabit
Sometimes I lay awake and wonder
Could there ever really be
Intelligent life on Earth?

Keep it all hidden
It's not forbidden
But it's not encouraged
So where's my courage?
Miscarriaged in a baby carriage
Reassurance fits inside a turtle shell
Inside your pocket, a plastic reprieve
Feeling grounded above the rooftops
Laughing at faces in the fallen leaves

When the rapture comes, be it Ragnorok of the Book of Revelation
Guess I'm going to have to beat up someone's drunken deity
And when I get my hands on that damn Sandman,
I'ma put his a*s to sleep
Haunt him in his dreams like he did to me
Sometimes I lay awake and wonder
Could there ever really be
A life before the afterlife?
