Longing & Loneliness

A burning yearning that will forever be ignored and tossed aside. To You, I don't exist.

Your arms around me,

Holding me tight,

That’s all I want.

 

Your face

Smiling down at me,

Is all I can see in my dreams.

 

Yet all of my feverish wishing,

All of my unspoken hopes,

All of my prayers to a weary Aphrodite,

They are all for naught.

 

For even as I ink in these words

In the somber darkness of my bedroom,

You are far away across the sea,

Basking in sunshine and fame

Unknowingly holding my heart in your hands

Along with so many others.

Holding my heart - I love that saying, it is so bitter sweet to long for one heart to beat with yours only to hear silence. Distance does not make the heart grow fonder it makes it doubt. You convey emotion beautifully, keep em' coming

as for cheap cologne it is because money cannot but love so even a poor heart knows love ~ Shadow

O the yearning is almost painful to read. Who can read of it and not feel it? I like quite a few dabs in the poem including 'feverish wishing' ... and ... 'ink in these words' 'Uknowning hands' is the strongest bit though.
