The Plant As A Soldier.

The Plant As A Soldier.

A Poem by Ian Chris
"

It is description of war that a soldier will face being compared to the life of a plant.

"

The Plant As A Soldier.

The soldier's plan

is perverse,

common to civilsations,

is like nothing else.

Blown down

upon the richest earth

it's seed will not

root,

nourished by blood and tears

they will not ripen.

Even prayed over

celebrated in myth

imagined as history

tended to a fault

they will never flower.

This poem takes a bit of work to interpret. It would be good to think that the soldiers plans will never flourish but I'm not sure that we ever learn the lesson. You have some good ideas here and using the comparison with the growth of a plant works well.
Cheers,
Alan
