The Cry of a SoldierA Poem by Ian TitianA poem about war and the helplessness of a despairing soldierThe Cry of a Soldier Masses of corpses Buildings of old ravaged and ruined Lifeless inanimate remnants of what they used used to call friends Lie dead and forgotten It’s all that I’ve witnessed It’s all that I could remember through the thick fog of despair that constantly looms over Wasted! wasted! Why!? Why god!? Tis’ so cruel! Tis too cruel! To let the debris of war Sweep them from the plane of existance And bury them deep without hope In a nameless grave without a chance of remembrance Because no one will mourn Just another nameless soldier Who died on the battlefield © 2018 Ian Titian |
