As he stalks through the darkness

The full moon shining bright

On this All Hallows’ Eve

He searches for a victim

Though many have hidden away

Afraid of what this night may bring

And what creatures have come out

But some have braved the dark

To gather the spoils of this special eve

Clothed in dazzling arrays of decoration

Scurrying gleefully from house to house

He silently watches from the shadows

Clenching talons tightly into fists

Blood red eyes seeking out a human

Desperately searching for the right one

Suddenly a delicious scent invades his senses

A tainted soul has now ventured near

Completely unaware of the evil that lurks

To steal their soul away this night

She walks alone illuminated by the moon

Oblivious to the danger she has attracted

Detaching himself from the shadows

He now quietly follows behind

Only a few hours are left

To gather this soul for his master

And remain another year in this realm

Prowling among the humans

His prey finally turns down an empty street

And he scurries after her in glee

Allowing his true form to break through

Shedding his earthly disguise

Wrapping his talons around her throat

He drags her thrashing form into the shadows

Black and red scales glistening in the moonlight

Razor sharp teeth bared in a feral grin

She stares up at him gasping in terror

As he raises a hand above her

Plunging into her chest before she can scream

Ripping her heart free from its confinement

Closing his eyes in ecstasy

A shiver rolls down his spine

As her blackened soul departs this realm

Happily accepted by his master

The empty corpse now slides to the ground

As the demon regains his human disguise

Safe to roam for one more year

Until the next All Hallows’ Eve
