Like a Brother

Like a Brother

A Poem by Emme

It feels really weird

Loving someone

Wanting to tell them

Tell them that they're

The best thing that happened to you

But have neither the words

Nor the courage

I want to tell you

Everything you've meant to me

How much I love you

How much I admire you

How much I want to be like you

But I don't have the words

To fully describe

Those feelings

I can put an image to it

The image of a swing set

Like the wind

Your love carried me

And didn't know it

I went back and forth

From thin air

To nearing solid ground

I look back

On the laughs

On the smiles

On the honest conversations

And smile until

I'm laughing

Laugh until

I'm crying

Crying with joy

Rather than the

Usual sadness

The time comes

To say goodbye

To say “I'll miss you”

To try one more time

To tell you

Everything

To confess the feelings

I've bottled for years

I've prayed desperately

That God will give me

The words to tell you

What I've wanted

Tell you since I knew you

I still don't have the words

To tell you exactly how I feel

But now I'm

Finally trying

I love you

Like a sister

Loves a brother

Very good poem! It is very well written, and I can currently completely relate haha. It's always therapeutic to release those bottled feelings, especially after such a long time. Bravo, I look forward to reading more of your pieces.
