The Lament of the Man in Black

The Lament of the Man in Black

A Poem by Idyllwyld
"

Referring not to Walter O'Dim, but the Man in Black seen in my "Come, Let Us Be Alone Together." I will say this, it comes from The Dark Tower, DMT, and myself. All three accounts are true.

"

The Other speaks
I don't understand.

Greater men have tried
Some fly, most die.
What of I?
I am shadowed by
the shoulders of giants.

The Other leaves me
The world is moving on
Something has been lost
The world has moved on
I walk away.

We can be anything
we want, but choose
to be Somebody.
Legion of cards
with arms and legs.
Black, white, yellow, red
Order, purity, truth, destiny
Greys and Oranges
Who are you?

Demons and wizards
around in me.
Time and my heart
playing tricks on me.

The one in yellow
rides across the sky,
Hoping to seize the day.
Icarus falls, and asks
"Why can't I reach the Sun?"

The one in red,
scales up the Tower,
Hoping to find what Is.
He gazes across the
dunes of time
and what he sees is...

Though I fly
and cannot land
Others soar above.
I look at them
and see the sun,
I feel shame.

I am afraid.
But what is, is.

Author's Note

Idyllwyld
I usually proofread my works, however as always I'm sure there are typos and syntax errors. I appreciate any and all notices of that, and will work to correct those. If I haven't do know that I did acknowledge your notice and try implementing it, but found that it detracted from the effect I wanted and so omitted it.

hmm while i was reading it i didn't come across any spelling errors. Great write you have here.I liked the forth stanza, black, white, yellow, red which one are you. I liked that best throughout this piece. the rest was nicely done too. Not many Proof read there work they just go and post what they have written. Proof reading them is a good way to see how you can make the poem better.
