CrossroadsA Poem by Ari and Hyde
When I was young
I read a famous poem about a man Who reach a crossroads and how he stood there Unknowing if he should take the path That was smooth and green Or the road that curved and twisted Though he knew it would be harder The poem left it's mark on me But not in the way one would expect Most take comfort Knowing they aren't alone on the broken road But as for me All I could think and all I could say Was the road not taken will leave you in pain And a few days ago I wrote it down In the words of a boy from a story But his friend spoke up in a voice inside me Inside my heart, in a place I'd never known He said don't walk it alone Bring a friend with you Someone who can carry you when you fall And until you can once again stand on your own two feet Someone to walk with you and catch you if you stumble The world may be cruel The world may be unforgiving But that doesn't mean that everyone around you is the same Someone will be there for you And as cliche as it is You need to keep moving forward over the broken road And there is a light at the end of the tunnel And you can make it that far After I wrote it I came across the realization That these little things Words I'd never thought of Words I'd never known Had always been true My thoughts on the road not taken were bitter Were angry and cold But now I realize and now I know That there had always been a part of me That had hoped That had dreamed That had known that the road was worth it © 2015 Ari and HydeAuthor's Note
