Bittersweet

Bittersweet

A Chapter by Scott Christian
"

This piece has many meanings.

"

Into the wind they toss their
leaves; golds and browns and reds aplenty
Our children have grown and gone away lea
ving     only a space in their stead
           Emptiness and bittersweet airs

Yet we try to cling to their memories
       of their songs and laughter
unlike any we shall hear again in our lifetime.

Just listen; maybe you, too can hear t[he]i[r] echoes
