In The Dark

In The Dark

A Poem by Incandescence

I smile with pearly whites,

Something I can pull off

well. All those stupid whispers

don't bother me,

but

there is something inside

that no one knows.

Not that I should tell.

Instead of love I breathe

in

oxygen that still keeps me

alive and well. I occupy my

time with random events.

What I miss most is

the

beautiful, warm summers

where I don't have to

smile for anyone. Where

it's mostly light and the

dark

is rarely ever there.

Where I can wear whatever

I want and do whatever I feel

like doing. And still

I'm

Putting up with all the noise

and faces that come up.

People I don't want to care

about. Where I have to hold

my head up high. The

place where I'm not

breaking.

I love the unique set up here- and it leaves a lot open to interpretation, making it accessible to almost anyone.

That was a very unusual set-up and I really liked it. I don't think I have to necessarily understand it to appreciate it, because I don't know what it means and I really liked it. I'm probably just putting my own meaning to it, but that's okay because I really connected to the feeling and fragility of the speaker. It was very clever and cool. I am duly impressed.

Writing is what I've done my whole life. Sadly, I believe I'm losig my touch. But I will keep trying. No matter how bad my work is. I love Taylor Swift, Paramore, Michael Jackson and John Mayer. They .. more..
