Ride Of The Valkyrie

Ride Of The Valkyrie

A Poem by Inner Rain
"

A Poem

"
Battle cries blow,
And horns of the ancient sing.
The earth quakes in the deep below,
As shields clash and sharpened blades swing.

The dawn begins to rise,
And the hills and mountains dance.
The rivers are painted blood, red placed in the skies,
When faces are trapped by the maiden's trance.

On horseback she is mounted,
Adorned with gold, silver and light
The fallen are counted then collected,
To be brought into royal halls by flight.

A raven on her shoulder,
And their fates within her hand
She rides the fields in warmer or colder
And carries them towards a new land

Battle cries blow,
The earth quakes in the deep below.
Hills and mountains dance,
And the heavens open up in a glance.
The dawn begins to rise,
As she brings them to a land of blue skies,
Where together the lamb and lions lie;
There they live and claim death's prize.
