Stay here

Stay here

A Poem by Mark
"

I was thinking, I really hate endings. I want to always stay in the beginning.

"
Your voice lit up my spine, glowing
I felt you and I, and it looked so never ending
you stood by, and I just flew by...
Couldn't we just stay in the beginning?

where the end is still an infinity
Couldn't we just pull a circle
round us here, and make hills
we could forever climb?

Can't the path always stay new?
while the pine needles turned to rust
Why does it always happen
the wall, the pain, the dust.

I wished and washed the sky away
pulling down blackness, outlining you
I fall in the dust every day
wanting to know, to know,
why beginnings always go.

I would hold you harder
if the time would only give up its sin
I would pray if it mattered
I wouldn't choose, I wouldn't lose
again.

I wished and washed the sky away
outlined in black; now you are void
I inhale your dust every day
I hardly remember you, us, the joy.

please, put back on those shoes
hold my hand so we can stand
and breath this air til it's new
let us start again, at the beginning.

Good analysis, warm and engaging.

All good things must come to an end. The beginning of a relationship is almost always so nice... The sparks sadly wear off eventually. We all long for that passion later. There really is nothing like it. It's a shame we can't preserve it. Blame human nature for getting bored easily. Good work. Always a pleasure reading you C:

Always.. thanks fo reading yokolyn.
To me this was both lovely and sad, suggesting wonderful starts and less rosy middles and ends. Beginnings are exciting and less scary because we have less to lose.
I love the wistfulness in this poem.

thanks Leslie I appreciate your thoughtfulness and expertise.
I really enjoyed the concept of your words...it would be great to always stay in the beginning of happy times, relaitionships, life....although middles are very comfortable beginings are so fresh and new....great write

As always, my brother, thank you for reading.
A very sad poem my friend. Heartbreak make us did deep and teach us what real pain is.
"I would pray if it mattered
I wouldn't choose, I wouldn't lose
again."
Regret is our only friend when the heart is broke. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
