And I

And I

A Poem by Mark
"

There is this one woman...

"
and I loved you
the day I saw you
outlined in chapel soft light,
quietly, you were sitting in a pew.

12 years old and struck in awe
Something about the way
your eyes pierced the truth
the set of calm in your face.

and we grew and all the time
I didn't know, but I knew
down inside, that place
that's empty and waiting.

and I lost you
and we went seperate ways
in long dazed, crazed
smoke and drink days.

and I thought of you
from time to time
eyes and the halo only I saw,
of your clear sight and heart.

and I will love you
until I've died,
even though we may never
walk the same ground.

Sometimes it feels like
I want to cut that part
out and throw it away.
Today, it just feels like...

What matters is not what
love makes us feel
but what love does;
the connection we can't break.

You said it all in the above lines. Take no chances won't know the taste of real love when it really appeared. Thank you for the outstanding poetry.

Love from a distance Mark is not love. I agree with Gabriel on this one. A well constructed poem though, a joy to read.

Chemistry is not to be underestimated but in this case it may simply be a long infatuation as you never 'connected'. Nicely penned as a story woven in a well balanced poem Mark.

A very touching write. It is funny how other people can affect you so much, even if its for a brief moment in time, they leave a lasting imprint on your heart and mind. Beautifully written, I felt the emotion through-out.

Just beautiful.

So beautiful and yet so sad. Funny how the heart locks onto to something and never lets go. Very nice Mark.
