Faded attraction

Faded attraction

A Poem by Mark

and sometimes it's the only thing
and always it's what life will sing
that magic contraction
that inexplainable attraction
that makes us human.
and now it's all fading gray
night stars covered in the mist of clouds
The sad joy of remembering your eyes on me
what can't be explained made me feel alive
And sometimes it's the only thing
and always it's what life will sing
that magic contraction
that inexplainable attraction
that makes us human
I remember feeling the pain
a soul drenched in life's rain
drowning in loneliness.
now just an old man's aches.
and I remember when it was the only thing.

"that inexplainable attraction" pure crack isn't it? That thing we need one more hit of. The thing we never forget no matter how long it is gone. I believe it is such attractions that help keep us alive. The thing that "makes us human." You nailed it.

Poignant, graceful and beautifully penned. A true delight.

Thank you very much! Glad you enjoyed.
It was a bit startling to begin with a conjunction, but it worked perfectly. I don't typically like repetition of the stanzas in poems, but in here, the third stanza felt quite fresh rather than monotonous, perhaps because I like that stanza so much.
Only one thing I'll point out, a small typo in "what can't be explained"

No problem! And keep on bending and twisting language! Redefined conventions are always refreshing.
