Summer Storm

Summer Storm

A Poem by Mark
"

The awesomeness of nature is very hard to capture in pictures let alone words. I was walking in the North Woods near Mount Washington in New Hampshire when a storm came and went.

"
Heavy warmth encases the earth,
like a sluggish blanket on a restless bed.

First the heavy air and then
The sky opens and rains fall.

Cracked in electric blue, the bright moment
quickly fades with the rumble of thunder.

As if the sky, seeing the ocean crash on rocks,
decided to do it one better.

Then did.

Hi Mark, this is so beautifully descriptive in such a short piece. I could see the storm appear. The first stanza captivates.

Very interesting analogy. It's funny i one writer such as yourself will point out the similarities to us readers and will say to ourselves " oh yeah, why didn't i see that?

Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed.
This is quite beautiful, Mark! I admire your concrete images of the Summer Storm. It invokes the beauty of Nature. Biology is about o r d e r and perfection. However, Realism of creation also tells us there are "freaks of nature."

The imagery details of the s e a is what stood out from the rest. I thought it was a surreal. You are able to depict the scene without help from photography.

"Summer Storm" is somewhere I would like to visit, indeed!

Astounding imagery. Its brevity is perfect and vocabulary is well utilized. I love writing about nature and this does an amazing job of bringing it to life. The best poems often come to me when I am watching the beauty of the creation all around me. Great work.

Thank you for reading and commenting.
This piece made me smile. An excellent description of the storm, one of nature's most powerful works of art. Those last three parts were the best, I think, tying this poem up and ending with a bit of epic.

Just my opinion.
