Sanctuary

Sanctuary

A Poem by Mark
"

Punching a clock, driving in rush hour traffic, the same dull routine every day. What we give up for a few dollars and shrinking benefits eh?

"
Sanctuary
Dreams please take me home.
This gritty drear day
another one done.
Sanctuary

Where I am at home.
Bring me the comfort
bring me the blue sky
bring me
Sanctuary.

Chained to a paycheck
lost in the gears
cogs choke the highway
losing my mind again.

Sanctuary
Dreams please take me home
Sanctuary
Lost so in your arms
I want
Sanctuary.

Just moments to rest
living in these chains
paying with remains.
But I'll be fine again.

Sanctuary
Where I'm not alone
Sanctuary
feel it in my bones
I want
Sanctuary.

Where the wrong turn?
feelings like bridges burned.
I just can't help but
do it all again.

Sanctuary
say I want to live.
Sanctuary
say I want to give.
Sanctuary
Lose me in your arms.

Sanctuary
Sanctuary home
Sanctuary;
I will come;
I will come home to you.

During work week home does feel like a sanctuary. Awesome poem muse here. Super cool refrain. I ESP like the creative stanza of "chained to a paycheque " and the rest is great too. Kudos.

I'm a newbie here, u may read my poems too.

Thank you for your words. I"m glad you liked my poem.
The drudgery of the workplace and the longing to be away from it is captured perfectly here. Well done.

You have poetically expressed the feelings of so many lost in the jungle of the work week. Sanctuary is indeed home and where the heart is for most. Where are all these people that win the lottery? I have never met one.

Never really felt chained to a job, or working, per se. Always made a living with my hands and enjoy anything that keeps them busy.

Like the nice, easy flow to this. Well done.

i understand this all 2 well if only there was a way 2 break free from the gears and not lose all you have strived for or there was a simpler way to pick yourself up off the floor when you have lost your job to keep your sanctuary instead of cold and alone with no true home

This is wonderful writing! It's so interesting because I just recently had a deep conversation with someone about this very type of thing...jobs, taught to go to school so that you secure a job, doing the same thing day in and day out all for a paycheck, etc. And this captured that sort of essence. Great job

To get lost in the arms of sanctuary, on a musical way... the words dance, as thy thoughts, and in these thoughts, Nice write sir! a rich longing..

Always welcome, and a pleasure :)
Your misery can be felt and gives greater meaning to the idea that one should choose a job path that they'll enjoy. Claire, below, has a good idea for it making a good song.
