Strong too Long

Strong too Long

A Poem by Catherine Frain

These tears are not for you.
They aren’t my sign of weakness.
These tears aren’t even for me.

You see them, these small tear drops,
but you don’t see what is behind them.

You ask me what the reason is-
for why these tears escape my eyes.
It shows me that you
wouldn’t understand why.

I cry because I have been strong
for far too long, so no longer can I be.
I put on a straight face for those around me.

But yet you still don’t see,
not will you ever see?

My tears, small as they are,
hold a million seconds
of raw, powerful emotions
that I have been holding back.

I am strong,
but even for me-
I have been strong for far too long.

lovely sad poem that speaks for millions of others. In the 5th stanza should it not be NOR instead of NOT?

Only a suggestion, don't shoot me
