What the price of LibertyA Poem by InyourshadowTo all the men and women that fight for our freedom to live unshackled
In her arms he lay down weary, battle fatigued and saddle sore,
openly enjoying comfort, as her words of love outpour, he had fought so many battles and now here would fight no more. In her arms his eyes grew misty, warrior no more this broken man, openly weeping help me, strokes his brow with loving hand, he had seen so many men fall, now he fell and he felt damned. In his eyes she saw the longing, the battle scars beyond plain sight, openly she held him close, promised she would stay the night, for she saw the shattered psyche, in a mind lost to the fight. In his tears she tastes the wanting, the need he seeks to justify, openly she feels him shake, forever hears the battle cries, She seeks out the man that left her, in his form and in his eyes. Taken there to foreign shores, waved the flag and bore the flack, but when battle is then over what the cost when they come back. © 2011 InyourshadowAuthor's Note
