Two Minds

Two Minds

A Poem by Lori Carlson
"

~a meditation~

"

A part of my mind plays tricks on me
pretends it is my authority
covets self-loathing and hatred

Like hammer against metal
this mind tries to shape me
mold me into what it wants me to be

This mind creates mazes
whole labyrinths to confuse me
leaving me wandering endlessly

But deep within me is a place of truth
where self never lies
where trust dwells and flourishes

This mind of logic and reasoning
breaks through the bonds of confusion
allowing the real me to shine through.

Nice expose of the differences between primal impulse based on emotional stimuli and actual thinking about it first.

A good write.

Great poetic expression.. I can relate to this. I as well have a similar relationship with the inner working of my mind.. It can be a tribulation to curving the authority to arrive from a sound location..
