How Lines Formed A Name

How Lines Formed A Name

A Poem by Alm
"

There was a boy who liked lines...

"

He had this fascination

for lines:

geometry, angles--

anything, that had to do

with lines.

He loved how each

came together to form

a shape.

How a circle was

angle-less.

He was a little boy,

drawing shapes.

He never did stop

drawing shapes--

watching

every line as it

came together to form

something more.

He hasn’t stopped

drawing--but maybe

he has changed

what he uses to draw

and where

he does.

He has this fascination

for lines.

The way the lines

came together

on his skin

and formed her bleeding name.

Author's Note

Alm
I have friends who cut, and it made me wonder how they became that way--hence the "fascination with lines" idea.

The last few stanzas are just to add and finish the poem. Especially the name part, because most people are supposedly hurt from loving someone.

. it's saddening to see people succumb ... and i think the reason is that they don't get the support they need ... their support system is inadequate ... i have known some pretty excruciating times ... this apparently simple piece of poetry is extremely powerful ...

a tragic story, the more I read the feeling of dread crept further up my body and to the top of my throat, this was a dark, gripping write, a very accomplished piece and I like how the cutter is male, a lot of times people believe the problem is more prevalent in females because of self esteem and image issues but you have brought to attention the issue from a new light, well done.

quite intriguing and interesting, I don't understand why people want to do this to themselves. It's sad.

I knew a girl who cut herself one, she said she did it because it made her feel better, she said it took the pain from inside and put it outside, where she could more readily deal with it. I liked your write, thank you for sharing.
