Naps

Naps

A Poem by The Iron Horseman
"

The joys and perils of napping.

"

Why does sleeping in daylight feel better than sleeping at night?

I'm not complaining, I like it, it just doesn't seem right.

It sort of feels like I should be sleeping in a coffin,

Then running around at night looking for innocents who need offing.

A crazy idea, but not if it works.

In all those old movies it has really good perks.

The whole vampire thing seems pretty half-baked,

But you get to suck on some good-looking women before you get staked.

Then there's the downside, those darn vampire hunters.

Why can't they be meek, like the rest of the punters?

And what about that godawful taste?

The blood I mean, spat out in haste.

Perhaps I won't go that route,

I'll can the whole thing, give it the boot.

I'll just go back to my afternoon nap,

And stop all this thinking, it's a real nap trap!

There's nothing I enjoy more than an outlandish tangent. Good job starting out mundane & taking this around the wild side a couple times, then circling back to the original plan. Good rhymes that never sound contrived & attitude thru-out (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Having to put up with the British elections. I need a permanent nap. Though 600 odd stakes could come in handy for the rejects we elect.

Lol! Good luck with that!
You can the blood and market it as tomato soup.

Fun read!

Spat out in haste, no face to the vampire trace... Loved it, its a nap trap, for sure... Sun or night, it is all the same when your brain shuts off... Hilariously penned...

Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it. I like it when I can give people a smile!
Snarf! Ah, the plague of every afternoon napper. A mind that will not turn off and thinks of vampires for no reason at all. Next thing you know, you're rhyming. Might as well be writing. Then... maybe then I'll nap.
