My favoured solution to the problem of war-mongering politicians!

Guns in the night,

Missiles in the dawn,

Drones twenty-four hours a day,

Another war is born.

Peace is ephemeral,

War is eternal,

There is always a battle somewhere,

The human cost is infernal.

Politicians start the wars,

Somehow they never seem to fight them,

They send the nation's youth to die,

While singing the national anthem.

The politicians like war so much,

Let's send them to the trenches,

Let's see how much they like it,

When they are not sitting on the benches.

Telling lies and waving flags,

Don't cut it when the bullets fly,

Watch how fast they surrender,

When it becomes their turn to die.

I work in a congressional office and I see this destruction every day. Politicians encouraging young men and women to join the military to fight for the country, yet they are not willing to wear the boots themselves. It expresses the selfish entities politics has against people and It needs to be solved. Thank you for a beautiful read.

ABSOLUTELY!!!! Having one of my sons in the US Army, and a specialist at that, I think the politicians should have to shield HIM if he is ever called into the field.
