Moonlight Midnight Blue

Moonlight Midnight Blue

A Poem by The Iron Horseman
"

A mid-paced rocker...

"

I'm walking in the moonlight,

Talking to the midnight blue.

I'm tellin' that midnight,

“I'm a whole lot bluer than you.”

'Cause blue is blue,

And black is black,

And I'm tellin' you true,

It's a one-way track.

Chorus

When you're into the black,

Your fate is sealed,

You're not coming back,

It's the final done deal!

So I'm talkin' to that midnight blue,

I'm tellin' it what I'm gonna do.

I'm runnin' from the blue into the true,

I'm finding my way back to you.

Chorus

I'm heading back into the light,

The moonlight is now increasingly bright

My tortured soul is taking flight,

The future is gonna be quite alright.

Chorus

But the moonlight midnight blue,

Is never quite through with you.

The coming nights are a witch's brew,

Sweet dreams are often short and few.

Chorus

So when you're walkin' in the midnight blue,

Take your heart's love with you,

So she can tell that moonlight midnight blue,

How her love is the light protecting you.

Chorus

Moonlight midnight blue,

I'm staying the hell away from you!

(guitar screech wailing away into the distance with lots of reverb)

Author's Note

The Iron Horseman
This is a mid-paced, almost rockabilly, number with blues overtones.

Ever heard of Nekromantix or Tiger Army...I could see either of them singing this. Nekromatix making it creepy and hard... Tiger Army taking the softer route with it.

Either way it'd be rad!

Nope, don't know either of them! I will check them out! Thanks for the insight, BBP.

Think you'll dig em!
almost feels like rockabilly set in the 90's.....
can imagine it to music...and i think it works well...
especially with some old time guitar like in the 50's----like the Rhythm Orchids played.

This is one time when I can really feel the musicality of posted lyrics (not always evident for me with some other lyrics writers). I like your message & your imagery & the snappy beat, but this feels like many verses & some lyrics restate a small handful of ideas in a slightly different way, so overall it's long & repetitive to me. But if there's good instrumentality going on, sometimes it's good for the verses to go on & on, even if mostly restating (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

well I like it... very good lyrics... great message! the melody has a Brian Setzer quality to it I kind of hear a rolling popping baseline in it. there is much more to this than when i first read it had to hear it first to get the point of the lyric
