The one

The one

A Poem by Island Hippy

I've been staring at the sky
Stars lazily passing time
Deciphering secrets of the night
There are few things I know for sure
My love you are one.

Now I'm counting up
All my faults, a sorry for each scar
If I add, if I subtract
Put one here try & take one back
Our life was so much more than arithmetic.

When the years are showing on my face
When my strongest days are gone
When my heart and soul depart this place
From a life that sung your songs
You'll still be the one I want
You'll still be the one --
I love.

Mahalo John :)
Poignant and introspective. The sum of two lives, two linked souls."Our lives were so much more than arithmetic"...All my faults, a sorry for each scar"-just stunning. Beautiful flow. Brava ohana!

Aloha ohana I seemed to miss this yesterday. Mahalo for your lovely warm words.
This was fantastic. It's rare to read something so smooth and moving. Graceful, is the best word I can think of and how it felt the first time through.

When the years are showing on my face...love that line.
My face is year littered, many feet from many crows

:) well it was beautiful!
Beautifully captured. Sometimes, we just know that which is irreplaceable and find no quarrel in the knowledge that this is how it is to be. We find peace in what we shared together and know that even the resonance of those times spent together, will forever be stronger than looking for throwaway love.
As this was about your parents, it can also restore our faith in human nature, that true love is unbreakable, even separated by dimension cannot break what we hold dear.
