Showtime

A Poem by Island Hippy

this is some showtime; warring nations posturing, cavalries and deadly wares

you can stand back in anger or sink in total despair, or you can raise your voices up

maybe stir the fear into something useful? maybe the rain will wash your tears away

into the stream with autumn leaves, pray some other spring may grow...sometime

maybe the rain will wash their poison hands into the belly of innocence

that some other child may grow...sometime. is there no getting out of this?

while they're harvesting chromosomes from the godforsaken for grander schemes

they'll make your front yard a cesspool of radioactivity, this is some kind of suicide

but maybe the rain, maybe the rain.

Aloha,

I try to stay away from preaching this how I feel about what's stirring between the US and North Korea.

Mahalo for your time.

I am so moved by your words my ohana. Such dangerous times. Our lives, our children's lives, our future depends on the fragile egos of pompous, amoral fools. I hear the tears in this poem and I hear the cry for sanity, for humanity, to prevail. I pray with you that they will. Thank you for this.

Mahalo much ohana for your insight and wisdom. I deeply appreciate you my ohana xx
That first line grips and draws you in with intensity and intrigue. Anxiety of the unknown. Nice job Izzy

Always a pleasure.
i hope nothing comes of all this, but i am scared it will...getting so tense in the world right now...our fearless leader? mmmmmm

interesting how you use rain here as something that might wash away all of the trauma....i remember in 1970--how Credence Clearwater Revival would incorporate "Rain" into their songs...and use it to identify trouble.

excellent poem.

Aloha Jacob, Mahalo for your thoughtful comment, we can only wait and see. I appreciate your time.
It ain't gonna end anywhere near as neatly as some people think, although to be honest, it's difficult to decide which one is the bigger joke at the moment. If this does become a war, it will be the first one meme'd, it's already happening now and NK seemed to have scored an own goal by making their displays over elaborate, as someone with too much time on their hands has discovered that their show of might is made up mostly of cardboard and plaster models of weapons. It's online now, you can see them all wobbling about, but it ain't the fake ones that are worrying me, it's that some of them are real and when you get two despots fighting, no one backs down and we end up in a whole new kinda hell.
Instead of dropping bombs on them, they should hire a fleet of small crop spraying planes to smoke 'em all into their senses by getting them high, maybe then they'll see how ridiculous they are being.......and come to the realisation that they both seriously need a new barber. :)

my pleasure
I liked and I understood this poem.
"this is some showtime; warring nations posturing, cavalries and deadly wares
you can stand back in anger or sink in total despair, or you can raise your voices up
maybe stir the fear into something greater?"
The above lines. Hard to decide what is right or wrong. USA feed North Korea. We must find even ground. Thank you my friend for sharing the thoughts provoking poetry.

You are welcome my dear friend.
With times like these, it does seem as if there is no getting out of it but we being humans can but only hope. Your words hit with a powerful impact.
Especially liked the lines:

"maybe the rain will wash your tears away
into the stream with autumn leaves, pray some other spring may grow.."

It gives off the feeling of hope we so want to hold on to..

Nicely penned. ka hana maikai..

Mahalo Julie I appreciate your time.
I certainly wouldn't want to have children in this day and age. There is nothing but bad news anymore. I'm sure some of it is manufactured or hyped for ratings but N. Korea is a reality we all have to face.

There have been and always will be mad men in our world bent on destruction. It's a part of living. With technology being so prevalent, we have the ability to view any and all negative stories in a second. Something our parents never had. Is it any wonder there are so many nuts walking around?

If only the rain cold wash it away. We could use a brighter and better spring indeed.

Good poem.
