Phantom DJ

Phantom DJ

A Poem by J Todd Underhill

For nearly six years my mother has controlled;
Radio waves and music mixes from heaven above.
Odd Audio coincidences and juxtaposition,
Communications through the power of the muse.
Be it the Beach boys or One Riff Chuck,
Her music, Her way; she doesn't give a concern,
If it seems out of style or place.
Dope smokin' Hippie music in the middle of jazz
Christmas Carols in the middle of June
It is all good as long as she makes it so.
I know where it is that I got my talent,
And also my penchant toward the bizarre.
Even happening as I write these lines
With a mix of music on YouTube.
It makes me smile deep down inside.
As I know my mother is with me daily.

What a great feeling to be connected to the past and family by music. I got my love of poetry and music from my mother as well and though she has been gone since 2011 I still think about her daily remembering good times shared through words and song.I enjoyed this.
