My Father

My Father

A Poem by Julio Cesar Ruiz
"

In memory of the man he was once.

"

There once was a man who was strong and brave,

and he taught his son how to behave,

He raised his son to be just like himself,

He taught him that family was more important than wealth,

the man raised his oldest son with care,

because he knew that he wasn't always going to be there,

one day he would go without a bother,

that man was my father.

... wow ... that's such a beautiful and profound ode ... and so skillful ... brevity reigns in this verse ... and so much depth is achieved with ... "he taught his son how to behave" ... and ... "he taught him that family was more important than wealth" ... brilliantly expressed ... and the last line is so poignant and magical ... making the unraveling of this verse so enchanting ... stunning verse about an amazing father and an even more amazing son ...

The simple lines of this poem is an impetus for reflection. I identified with it greatly. Enjoyed it!

This poem is kind of new in your writing style.Usually your poems are really long and have the words believe and achieve in there. Personally, I think like with poems like this not only can I relate but saying less is really saying more.Excellent
