Whats in a Face?

Whats in a Face?

A Poem by J.Carnevale
"

This came to me during a really difficult time in my life. hope you enjoy it.

"

What's in a face?

What do you see when you look at me?

Have you ever really looked at me and actually seen me?

I may walk like you do,

I may talk like you do,

I may look like you too.

But I'm different from you.

But why would you even notice?

You only see what you want to see.

You would never know that inside I'm screaming,

Inside I'm crying.

But you don't see that,

you just see a face.

A face you've seen a thousand times,

but you haven't really seen it, have you?

No, no you haven't.

You don't know everyday I try to escape,

everyday I try to find a way out.

I'm here yet again maybe I'm not.

I feel empty,

I feel absent of a heart,

I am cruel.

You have made me so.

You have turned me cold.

If you touch my skin, you will not feel warmth,

If you touch my skin, you will not feel life.

I am as cold as ice,

my heart has turned to stone.

I am dead.

You have made me so.

I try to find the warmth in which you feel,

but it's become more challenging.

I don't feel warmth from you, even if you believe i do,

your touch, to me, burns cold.

But you wouldn't see that.

You think I'm fine and you don't see what you've done to me.

The cold has slowly killed me, I have died.

I'm not who i used to be.

But you don't see that.

How could you see me, when you don't really look at me?

You don't see me,

You don't know me.

You see my face, it's a mask.

It's a lie, to hide whats on the inside.

But you wouldn't notice.

what do you care about a face you can't even see?

Besides, what's in a face anyway?
