Ayah froze quick

The sound of whispers

Echoing through the air

“You’re losing it,” she thought,

“Stay focused; find the lab.”

 

Five doors checked and

None of them led her

Any closer to proving

Her fearlessness, just an

Empty hall calling her name

 

Ayah’s skin crawled

When the sixth doorknob she

Tried did not budge; she was

Lost and she kicked the door

Then a click and open

 

She would have fled

But she was already

In purgatory so

She might as well find her

Courage and get the snapchat

 

 

She squeezed her phone

As she pushed the door

And proceeded inside

The lab chilled her body

More than the passageway

 

The smell of bleach

Attacked her nostrils as

She stepped deeper into

The dark; no light hummed on

She froze at the sound of laughter

 

Ayah jumped down

To her knees and crawled

Under a table, lifting

Her knees to her chin, she held

Her breath, straining to hear

Von put his hand

Over his mouth, trying

To trap in his laughter

Judas glared at Carlo

Joking with his best friend

 

“Hey,” Naye whispered,

“What’re we gonna do when

We find this thing?” Judas

Shrugged and said, “I don’t know.

Haven’t thought that far ahead.”

 

Naye laughed and said,

“Just going with the flow?”

“Something like that,” Judas grinned.

“So what’s the sitch?” Naye asked.

“What makes this place spooky?”

 

“It was a morgue,”

Yasmine explained. “Before

Carez was a research center

There was a massacre

On the old oil rig.”

 

Naye gasped; Von said,

“While the survivors waited

For rescue, they tossed the

Bodies down here, where some

Say the dead still roam.”

 

“You’re kidding right?”

Carlo remarked. Von grinned

And shook his head. “We’re here,”

Yasmine said, pointing at

The lab around corner

  

Von’s eyes lit up

Judas and Carlo bumped

Into each other as

They followed Von to the

Door; “Watch it,” Judas snapped.
