Adina's Poem

Adina's Poem

A Poem by John Knowles
"

There is this character in a bunch of my stories named Adina Dietrich. She's a punky girl in her early twenties who is somewhat of a charismatic psychopath. This poem is from her perspective.

"
Dear mother, what amount
Do I feel in a sense
Of disbelonging?
What floats on clouds,
Coated in ice?
Do you feel my past
Or will to dance
Within no boundries?

And Dance;
I want to dance with
ribbons in hands,
Reaching to the sky
Never to see
The earth again.
I don't want to sit around here,
All blank and covered in dust.

For what?
I cannot count the reasons
For which this I desire,
Maybe it's a leap of faith
And a hand in the fire of this s**t.
None the less, I think i'm
Done.  I have a life
And I need to live it.

John Knowles
In the fifth line of the third stanza I added 'shit' for juxtaposition purposes, but I don't know if I like it. What do you think?
