to catch a leaf

to catch a leaf

A Poem by Joyce S. Greene
"

I run to catch a leaf

"

I run

to catch a leaf

it falls so slowly

almost taunting me

is it laughing?

I like this poem. I like the vision create by your words. Good to watch the grand kids trying to catch a leaf dancing in the wind. I like the way you described the falling of the leave. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

Yes, I think the leaves are laughing as they fall. I think they know something we don't!

An incredibly lovely piece. Brought back so many childhood memories of piling leaves up high and jumping in them for hours with my brother.

WOW...Beautiful write Joyce. The simplicity of chasing one leaf or the abyss of all in nature that governs us. Beautiful and brilliant. Tom :)

What a sublimely sweet piece. I am reminded of my days as a child at my grandparents ranch, when I would chase the falling leaves in Autumn...and even splash around in a few of the neat piles that my grandfather had already raked. Nicely done.

Sweet of you to say Joyce, and the pleasure was mine.
you know, maybe it is!

melanie sang about that...

something about laughing being a great way to die....many things in life seem just out of reach, but within reach...but the faster we run after them...the slower we feel as we never seem to catch them..

like dreams...like dreams.

I love how the breeze cascades their fall, like a pendulum sway. Beautiful thoughts infused with this one, Joyce!

Thanks, Kelly. I really appreciate your lovely thoughts.
Such vivid imagery in so few words! I love the personification of the last line - and the title is so clever. Love this, Joyce!
